The curation process of 100ASA is at the core of our user experience. We want it to be fair, fun, and reliable.
To achieve this, we continue to look for better ways to evaluate photographs, offering you the best tools available.
Up to now, curating photos meant adding comments with a minimum of 120 characters. We believed (and still do) that setting a character count would prevent unhelpful comments, such as “nice work!” or “well done!”.
But we heard your feedback, and now it’s clear that even 120 characters can be a lot for some of us. We are visual professionals, not writers!
So, here is the good news: we have introduced a new curation system, where you can curate photos by rating some criteria. The comment box is still there, but it’s now optional.
Check the new look of the comment page:
The 5 criteria are Composition, Technique, Content, Lighting and Creativity. You will rate each one of them from 0 to 5 (5 is the best rate).
You will need to rate all criteria, but it will only take a few seconds – you just need to click on your chosen number.
Once you do it, the system will automatically present an overall evaluation based on the rates you gave. It can be Poor, Not Too Bad, Fair, Good or Excellent.
You will still receive 2 tokens after finishing your rating. This hasn’t changed.
And here is the cherry on the cake: if you also choose to add a comment, you will receive an extra 3 tokens. You will find the comment box on the same page, and the minimum length still is 120 characters.
We hope you like the news. Give it a try and see how it works. And feel free to reach out if you have any improvement suggestions.
