Slide or transparency film was the standard medium for analog photographers until the 1970s. Nowadays, slide photographic film has stepped away from everyday use. The last personal use was primarily for experimentation.
Here is our list of slide films still available in 2023, and where to get them from.
NB: We have found links to films in the USA, the UK, and the EU (Germany). Other films not on the list have been sadly discontinued. On this list of professional sellers, you won’t find Amazon, eBay, and ETSY. Yet they do have many slide films and some of those missing from the list.

Why Experiment with Slide Film
Both color-negative and color-positive photographic films are processed with chromogenic color chemicals. Negative film works with C-41 and positive/slide/transparency film is created from E-6 processing.
By swapping the chemicals when processing, the result is ‘cross-processing’. This involves developing C-41 (color negative) in E-6 (color slide) processing. Depending on the film used, this can create very strange and creative color shifts, such as green or purple.
