"The Flight Odyssey", by Cristina Gârleșteanu
A fine-art photobook focused on flight as a metaphor for the journey of life. Flying fills us with excitement, exhilaration, and fear. We are excited about the prospect of new possibilities, new knowledge, and new places.
In the author's own words: "This book is about them, about the ones for whom Flight is the essence of things. About the ones for whom Flight, the mastery of maneuvers and diving, the dizzying speeds, and the sky are a purpose onto themselves, offering the unexpected reward of freeing the spirit from the body, from space and time…
The rest of us stay on the ground. But the dream of flying continues. Through them, for us."
The photos were taken over a period of 5 years, between 2011-2016, during various air shows in Clinceni, Tuzla, BIAS, or AeroNautic Show Lacul Morii but the project and the book have been published in 2022.
