In the desire to present, in addition to photography, other artworks such as drawing, graphics, painting, film, projects related to the visual in general, today we reveal Monica Stoian's drawings.
"Graduated from a theoretical high school, I start to follow my dream by studying Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, receiving a specialized doctor's degree in Diabetology. I’m a doctor and I love this!
I am also an artist, having a master degree in Visual Arts, being a member of the Union of Plastic Artists from Romania.
Through medicine I met and discovered the others and become closer to them. Through art I discovered myself.
In art, you must be yourself, otherwise, it does not make any sense in doing it.
Creativity, imagination, personal feelings are the ones who make the difference between art and craft.
Art does not take shape in our minds; art comes to life in our souls. Does not show our knowledge, art shows our feelings. It is part of us, born from our thoughts and non-thoughts. We live with us a whole life and still, we don’t know who we are, what to say, or what really defines us. We don't succeed to understand why we do or feel certain things in certain ways. We are Unconscious is an extraordinary source of ideas, beauty, solutions, and ways of expression. The visual discourse, which I have built in my artworks, captures the memories of a place drawn out of time and out of space. They ask to be translated internally, into the world of the unconscious.
What do memories want? They seek to bring back and fix the past in the present. Memories seek something lost. I drew the memories to give them bodily existence. I helped myself with the line to be able to put simpler or more complex, the self on paper. The memory of a primordial world I don't want to lose. Thus, the artworks constitute in part, but also overall, a real fascinating habitat, a habitat in which I imagined possible worlds. Passing from one artwork to another, we pass from one world to another. Memories flow with the artwork, and feelings are brought to the surface by signs and symbols.
Coincidence or chance, peace, harmony, or balance… anything is possible. Memory works spatially and not temporally, it is never on one plane, it is multi-dimensional. We break pieces of reality, from the outside and transform them inside.
This whole fine art story started with a white sheet and a black liner. Without a goal, without a specific plan, I didn't know what I was going to draw. I only knew that I would not think about anything and let my hand draw as it wanted. Empty of consciousness, plans, and rules of a correct drawing I atoned for myself through point and line. Later, the color spontaneously chose certain fragments. Drawing is a path of my freedom; it is a path of healing and salvation. Drawing begins with a point and can encompass the infinite. Each gesture is unique and unrepeatable. Each person is unique, and unrepeatable. "
